6th - 8th Grade Families
We have a couple of exciting opportunities for our middle grade students!
| It is that time of the year! Battle of the Books is beginning and 6th - 8th grade students are invited to join the challenge.
| |
| | | We want to invite our 6th-8th graders to participate in Math Club and/or Math Counts.
| The MATHCOUNTS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to making high-quality math problems, puzzles, and skills accessible to middle school students. There are currently two different programs that fall under the MATHCOUNTS umbrella, both of which will be offered this year!

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and this week we're highlighting resources to help parents and students work together to take meaningful action against bullying.
Bullying is defined as an ongoing misuse of power in relationships through unwanted verbal, physical and/or social behavior that causes physical and/or psychological harm. In order to be labeled as bullying, three criteria must be met:
1. The actions are repeated over time, despite being asked or told to stop.
2. The acts are deliberate with an intention to cause hurt, harm, or humiliation.
3. An imbalance of power (physical, status, knowledge, etc.) exists between the aggressor and the targeted individual or group.
As parents and caregivers, one of the most important steps we can take is to educate ourselves—staying informed about current definitions, warning signs, and potential risks ensures we understand what bullying truly is (and what it isn’t). Using accurate, thoughtful language when talking about social behaviors and peer relationships helps create a space for open, honest conversations. With shared understanding and awareness, young people can strengthen their skills and confidence to recognize bullying, respond appropriately, and show resilience—while also playing a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and bully-free environment at school, in their community, and throughout their lives.

| | Food Pantry is Open
| Our families really showed up these past couple weeks and now our food pantry is overflowing. This is an amazing resource for our families to share in and we invite everyone to take what they need. We will continue to get fresh produce from our community partner, WNC Food Coalition and have everything you need for your meals, as well as snacks, breakfast items and more.
