Looking for parent involvement on Finance Committee
The Finance Committee meets monthly and discusses all things related to Evergreen’s budget and financial planning. You do not have to be an active Board member to serve on the committee.
If interested, please reach out to Beth Rankin at beth.rankin@evergreenccs.org.
School pictures are ready!
Your child’s school pictures are now available! To view them online, please log in to your account at
mylifetouch.com. If you don’t have an account yet, you can create one using your email address. You’ll need your student’s ID number or their portrait ID and access code to locate their photos. Paper proofs will arrive at the school shortly and will have these ID numbers and explicit instructions for ordering photo packages.
Those who missed picture day or are unhappy with their photos will have an opportunity to be photographed on Friday, Oct 9th. Prepaid photo packages will be honored for makeups. PLEASE send your student back with the paper proofs if they need to do a retake on 10/9 AND email Hannah so she knows your student needs a retake! hannah.broyer@evergreenccs.org

Continuing Our Conversation: Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Last week, we shared a little about Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. This is a chance for all of us to raise awareness, break the stigma around mental health, and have real, compassionate conversations as a community—including with our children and scholars! This week, we want to give you a simple way to put that into practice.
We've put together a  Family Activity Menu featuring a handful of small, easy ideas for connecting with your kids this month. Nothing fancy: a feelings check-in at dinner, a conversation about who they'd turn to if they were struggling, or simply some device-free time together. Pick whatever feels doable for your family. Even one small moment of connection can matter more than we realize!
Please know that if you or your child is ever having a hard time, you don't have to figure it out alone. Call or text 988 anytime, or reach out to us directly. We're always here to listen.
Other resources:
•RHA Mobile Crisis Management, a confidential 24/7/365 emergency behavioral health service serving Western and Central North Carolina counties
•988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988, 24/7, free and confidential
•NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness): Family resources
•The JED Foundation: Mental health resources for parents & teens
•American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)

No Country for Mothers Documentary Screening on 9/13 from 5-9pm
‘No Country for Mothers’ is an eye-opening documentary film that exposes the unspoken realities facing mothers across the nation. Combining intimate personal stories with powerful economic insights, the film pulls back the curtain on critical issues like accessible childcare, paid family leave, and maternal health—illuminating how systemic gaps impact not just individual families, but our entire society.
Evergreen mothers Ann Odom and Courtney McManus will be facilitating a live discussion as part of the screening event to further facilitate much-needed connection, gain valuable insights and help us be a part of shaping a future that truly values and supports mothers.

Pick Flowers, Support Evergreen!
Who doesn’t love some fresh-cut flowers? We are excited to be teaming up with Little Farm again this year to raise money for the Evergreen Fund! Owned by Evergreen parents, this sweet farm has invited us back for another year to pick beautiful flowers and raise money for our community. Stop by and smell the flowers with us (and pick them) on September 17th from 4pm-7pm!

It’s Book Fair Time!
Book Fair runs from Sept 21- Oct 1.
Create your child’s Book Fair eWallet so they can shop cash-free, worry-free, and independently. It’s easy to set up and easy for others to contribute funds.
Add Funds Here
The Book Fair is so much fun for students, but it can also be a moment when children become aware of wealth inequality. We would love for every student to bring a book home from the fair this year. To that end, we are asking our community to come together to support making our Book Fair a more equitable event. Can you help us share the fair? Share our donation link with your friends and family!
Want to donate a book to Evergreen children?
Click below to make a financial contribution towards making our Book Fair more equitable. With your donation, all students have the opportunity to shop the Book Fair! (Books average $12-$15 each.)
Access to books both at school and at home is important, so thank you for helping us make sure that every child has the opportunity to get a book this year. We are grateful for our community!
