Counseling
Elementary and middle school are times of transformation, with change and growth happening in social and family relationships, bodies, and perspectives. Counseling services are accessed free of charge by student request or by referral from teachers, administrators, or parents.
Our Approach
-
Our counselors are available to help students and their families navigate life events, changes, and challenges; as well as to help address barriers to learning and academic success. Counselors meet with students individually in the first semester for a few minutes, identifying academic and personal goals for the year. Through individual and group counseling, counselors facilitate anger management, adjusting as new students, handling family changes, coping with loss or death, cultivating healthy choices, social skills, managing stress, social conflicts and mediations, study and organizational skills, test and academic anxiety, strengthening self-esteem, processing disciplinary situations, referrals to community programs, and more.
-
Counselors provide ongoing staff support through collaboration with teachers and administrators on implementing effective classroom management, conducting staff training, and facilitating school-wide crisis response programming.
-
Our counselors make every effort to maintain consistent communication with families through The Scoop’s Counseling Corner, class newsletters, and Parent Education sessions.
-
Evergreen's Counselors are committed to building Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) opportunities into the foundation of all that we holistically do. SEL practices are woven into school-wide, classroom, and individual student initiatives to support the social, emotional, and mental health of all students and staff.
“Let’s be honest—middle school is quite the adventure! I truly love being part of this journey and am dedicated to supporting every single student as they grow. Each child brings such a unique background, identity, and story to our school, and that’s what makes our community so special. Guiding them through these big years—academically, socially, and emotionally—is a privilege I’m so grateful to have. ”
