Land Acknowledgement

Evergreen Community Charter School sits on the sacred, ancestral homelands of the Cherokee people. The region now known as Asheville was historically called Togiyasdi (to-gee-yahs-dee), meaning "the place where they race".

We recognize that this land was taken through broken treaties, systemic violence, and forced removal. We honor the enduring sovereignty, culture, and resilience of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), who continue to live, thrive, and care for this region today.
