Good Luck to our 8th Graders!

Grad Panels are tonight! Here are a few things to remember when you are giving a big presentation:

  • Judges are here to see you. Don’t rush through!
Take up TIME. Take up SPACE.

  • Pausing to take a breath to calm yourself before and during presentations is less noticeable, and more helpful than you think.

  • Admitting you’re nervous can help relieve some of the pressure, and it’s relatable.

  • Do it scared. You may realize at the end that you are not scared anymore.

  • Refer to your slideshow, you worked hard to create it, show it off!

  • Believe in yourself, you’ve got this.

Greeting Card Fundraiser

Send a smile to your favorite Evergreen students to celebrate another successful school year!

This year we are offering to customize and print a range of greeting cards for Moving Up and Graduation Ceremonies for a suggested donation of $3-5/card to help support the Evergreen Annual Fund.  All profits from this fundraiser will go toward the Evergreen Annual Fund's goal of $100,000. The Evergreen Annual Fund goes toward faculty and staff salaries as well as supporting our beautiful campus.

Click here to check out all of the cards available!

Evergreen Annual Fund

Given the time and opportunity, would you buy your teacher a coffee? Would you buy them a coffee every month?

By scheduling a monthly donation of just $5/month you will be helping us reach our Evergreen Annual Goal. The main thing the Evergreen Annual Fund funds is our teachers’ salaries. So skip the coffee and help us fund their ability to buy their own coffee.

Not that we don’t appreciate treatsies. We like treatsies too.

SUMMER IS UPON US!

As the school year winds down, summer brings a welcome shift in pace for many families. Whether your plans include travel, camps, or quiet days at home, summer is a great opportunity to recharge and keep kids feeling supported, structured, and confident. While the busyness of the school year along with extra-curricular activities can make it challenging to find downtime or fill our self-care and/or entertainment buckets, summer offers valuable time to focus on those things more intentionally. Here are three key ways to make the most of the months ahead:

☀️ 1. Prioritize Self-Care—for Kids and Parents

Summer is a great time to build healthy habits that sometimes get lost in the school-year shuffle. Encourage your child to:

  • Spend time outside in nature

  • Get plenty of sleep (yes, even in summer!)

  • Practice mindfulness, breathing, or relaxation routines

  • Explore creative outlets like art, music, or journaling

And don’t forget about your own self-care. Taking time to recharge as a parent sets the tone for a calm and connected summer for the whole family.

More tips on Practicing Self-Care in the Summertime

⏰ 2. Keep a Light Routine

Kids thrive with predictability—even during summer break. Routines don’t need to be rigid, but a simple structure can help prevent boredom and big emotions. You might include:

  • Morning routines (wake-up, breakfast, getting dressed)

  • Quiet times or “independent play” blocks

  • Chores and responsibilities

  • Evening wind-down rituals

A loose daily rhythm helps kids feel secure and manage transitions more easily when school starts again.

More tips on The Importance of Summer Routines

📚 3. Prevent the Summer Slide

It’s natural for kids to forget some academic skills over the summer—but there are easy ways to keep learning fun and pressure-free:

  • Set aside 15–20 minutes a day for reading together

  • Let them write postcards, shopping lists, or keep a summer journal

  • Try math in real life—like measuring ingredients or counting change

  • Use free educational apps or workbooks that feel like games

These little moments can go a long way in keeping brains engaged and confident for the fall.

Tips & Activities for Preventing the Summer Slide

💛 Wishing your family a joyful, restorative, and balanced summer!

A note from Annie:

To my K-4 families - Being your counselor this year has truly been a gift to me in ways I can’t adequately describe. Evergreen is such a special place; every day I come to work and am reminded how important it is to have a soft, safe, and nurturing place to land, where we all work together to help each other and grow into the best version of ourselves. I hope our elementary students have learned as much from me as I have from them this year! It is an honor to walk alongside your children and be a part of their stories, helping them grow, learn, and discover themselves and the world around them. I am looking ahead with hope and excitement for when we all get to come together again in August!

A note from Hunter:

To all my 5-8 families - I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for the past two years I’ve spent at Evergreen. It has been an absolute privilege to support and grow alongside your incredible children during such formative years. While I will not be returning next year, please know this decision was not made lightly. I leave with deep appreciation for the trust you've placed in me and the many meaningful connections we've built together. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your children's journey—it's an experience I will always carry with me.

Evergreen's School Garden:  Growing into 2026

Our school garden is in a time of transition, and it is time for a collaboration of the next generation of school families!  The garden is a lovely space that is in need of helping hands as we approach the 2025-2026 school year.

Volunteering with the school garden will often involve physical labor. These personal interests are a plus:

  • digging,

  • raking,

  • harvesting,

  • planting

  • and weeding while chatting with a fellow volunteer friend

  • Picking up gardening supplies

  • Attending a group work day

  • Light carpentry and repairs

  • Volunteering in the garden with classrooms

  • ALSO- there are many tasks that need to be completed for the garden that don't involve ANYTHING mentioned above!  Do you want to help but prefer other ways?  Volunteer schedule coordination, sourcing supplies, seeking out collaborations within the community and grant writing are all big needs of the garden.

If you would like to join the handful of parents that have started this conversation and become a part of the next iteration of the Evergreen School Garden, please reach out to Evergreen part time staffer and parent, Melanie Corl.
