Attendance in August and september
Get the school year started on the right foot! Establish a routine that shows your students the importance of being on time and the importance of consistent attendance. Students should arrive to school between 8:00-8:20am so they have time to store their belongings and greet their friends before the announcements and the official start of the school day.
In addition to building good habits of scholars, our state and federal funding are directly linked to our attendance during the start of the school year, so we really need a paper trail that reflects the maximum attendance possible! Especially this year with deep cuts to school budgets, we need every dollar to best serve our students and their families. Please help out by refraining from unnecessary absences.
Students are marked tardy if they are not in the building by 8:29am.
Breakfast, Lunch, and Snacks
Place Your Lunch Order through our Nutrition Menus & More Page in the Evergreen Families Menu on the websites nav bar.
Access to affordable, nutritious foods are key to student success! Being able to offer Free and Reduced Meals through the National School Lunch Program, and securing access to healthy food for all of our students is an important value of our school.
Breakfast will be available each morning at the entrance to the school. Breakfast is free for students who qualify for free/reduced lunch, or $2.75/student for those who do not qualify.
Lunches are provided through a third party caterer called, Each One Teach One Through Food. Lunches are free for those who qualify for free /reduced lunch, or $5.75/ea.

Sign up to Volunteer
Evergreen is grounded in the philosophy that all community members will work together to ensure the success of each child at Evergreen. We are crew. We depend on volunteers.
Families are encouraged to find a variety of ways to contribute their time and talents to fulfill their monthly volunteer commitment. Please fill out our Volunteer Survey if you have not already! Each family member should complete their own survey. Please feel free to share with local grandparents, or other chosen family members who want to be more involved.
Believe it or not: This accounting can actually help us as we are writing grants because we can show a community that is invested in our collective work!
Please Log Hours! Hours can be logged per occurrence or cumulatively (ie. I spend 1 hour each week washing and folding classroom rags, there are approx 36 weeks in the school year so I can log 36 hours once, or I can log 1 hours each week).
drop-off and Pick up
This year, with the sidewalk construction on New Haw Creek Rd, getting to school on time is going to mean shifting habits! Look for alternate routes. Me: I’m using Cisco Rd. Get on Google Maps and check out alternate routes now.
Tips for Smooth Drop-off
-We strongly recommend dropping your student off between 7:55-8:10am. There is a fee based BeforeCare program available from 7:30-7:55am. After 7:55am there is no charge. Students move from the gym into the main building at 8:10am.
-Please listen to the traffic team’s direction and use crosswalk any time cones are up.
-Help your child transition by encouraging them to gather their things on the way up the drive, start saying your goodbyes and well wishes as you’re pulling around!
-Children must exit the car on the right hand side. If this is not possible, children must be able to get out of the car unassisted, and they must use the center sidewalk to go to a crosswalk.
-Drivers, please stay in the car and let traffic team assist. If your child has lots of gear, needs help, please park - do not hold up the car line
-If you need to park, do not use the spaces adjacent to the gym. Pull past car line and use the gravel spaces or the spaces near Picnic Island.
-Pull up as far as you can, our goal is to keep traffic from backing up onto Bell Rd.
TL;DR: Don’t hold up carline with your shenanigans.
Tips for Smooth Pick Up
-Have your Purple Placard ready at pick-up (given at Orientation)
-Display your placard/s on your dashboard so that staff can easily enter the numbers into their car-line app. Leave the placard/s up until all students you are picking up have been loaded, then remove it to let us know that you are ready to roll!
-Add all the people to your approved pick-up list, make sure they have placards. Additional placards can be requested at the front desk.
-If people picking up students (including parents) do not have a placard, make sure they know to BRING ID. Whomever is at the front desk will be checking ids against the pick-up list.
(If your chosen name differs from the one listed on the driver’s license- just make sure that we have both listed.)
-Early Dismissal ends at 2:30pm (1:00pm on Mondays) Please bear this in mind when scheduling afternoon appointments/making plans.
TL;DR: Always have your placard, if you don’t have your placard have your ID.
