This year, Evergreen celebrates our 27th birthday!
In 1999 we were in an office park in West Asheville- rectangular beige rooms, nothing but an empty lot beside us and a parking lot in the middle. Now we rejoice in this beautiful campus, still celebrating our amazing Evergreen community and learning.
There are 3 OG teachers from Evergreen’s 1st year still rocking it! Those Evergreen Old Schoolers are Ms. Heather in Kindergarten, Ms. Marni in 6th, and Deidre in 4th.
Happy 27th to our school and those Founding Teachers!
Downtown Block Party!
The United for Youth Block Party is a FREE event in Pack Square Park to celebrate the new school year.

Community Builders
Community Builders was born from a desire to get to know our Evergreen Community and build the village we want to see in the world. Through monthly low-lift meetings at libraries, at the school, and at local businesses, we gather to get to know our parent community and build relationships!
We strive to offer different opportunities at different times of day, and different days, so that more people have a chance to make it out!
Here are the next 3 dates:
Thursday, August 28th- Popsicle Pop-Up @ the School:
Picnic Island is the grouping of picnic tables that you drive around in car line and is part of the trail that leads up from the lower lot.
Sunday, September 21st- Family Picnic at Evergreen 3pm-5pm
Friday, October 10th - Family-friendly happy hour @ Highland Brewing: 4pm-6pm

Attendance in August and september
Get the school year started on the right foot! Establish a routine that shows your students the importance of being on time and the importance of consistent attendance. Students should arrive to school between 8:00-8:20am so they have time to store their belongings and greet their friends before the announcements and the official start of the school day.
In addition to building good habits of scholars, our state and federal funding are directly linked to our attendance during the start of the school year, so we really need a paper trail that reflects the maximum attendance possible! Especially this year with deep cuts to school budgets, we need every dollar to best serve our students and their families. Please help out by refraining from unnecessary absences.
Welcome Back Evergreeners!

Volunteer Opportunities
There are always a lot of way to get involved in your classroom newsletter/s! So check out those ways to get into the classrooms, or take advantage of those at-home opportunities!
If you’re new to the school, please make sure you have reviewed the Volunteer Policies and submitted a Background Check, both of these items are linked on our Volunteer Page!
Please do not sign up as a field trip driver unless you are certain you can attend. When drivers drop out at the last minute it has a major impact on the planning your grade level team has done to ensure each child has transport, and that there are an appropriate amount of chaperones.
Keep your eye on The Scoop as the year progresses for other opportunities in the garden, during special events, and around campus!
Encouraging Our Community Members to Model Life-Long Learning for Our Students:
Building Bridges Fall 2025 Registration is open!
This nine week fall course will happen Monday evenings!
Each Building Bridges session offers education and dialogue about the dynamics of racism and is an opportunity to explore how race has impacted our relationships, communities, and institutions, particularly in Asheville. It is also an opportunity to foster antiracism in ourselves and in our community.
Access scholarships are available, click the Building Bridges Logo to get started.
“I HIGHLY recommend this important experience.”
Mission: Building Bridges fosters antiracism by educating people on how to intentionally engage in dialogues about racism.
Vision: Building Bridges deliberately dismantles and disrupts racism, one conversation at a time.
