The 2026-2027 School Year Calendar has been released!

TODAY!

We invite our rising middle grade parents and students to come discover Evergreen’s Middle School Program!

We have rescheduled this event for February 26th, hopefully that will allow more of you to join us to get to know our Middle School Teachers and chat with the Middle School Admin, SJ Smith.

Here’s an invite to share with anyone who might be interested in learning more about Evergreen Middle School.

MARCH 16th: Spring Fundraiser & Evergreen Phenomenon:
Tourney of the Hoops!

TL;DR: Please solicit $111/ea for the Spring Fundraiser this year. Ask 10 people for $10.

Important Tourney Dates

  • March 9th- 13th - Pledge/Spirit Week -
    LET THE PLEDGING BEGIN!

  • March 16th - Tourney of the Hoops GAME DAY

Welcome to March Madness! This year we will be going straight from March Break into our big Spring Fundraiser that supports our teachers and students!

Our goal for this fundraiser is $50,000. This money is crucial to our school’s budget. Literally keeping lights on and salaries paid.

During Spirit Week each grade level will be racing to see who can reach their grade level goal of $5,555 first. We will be offering fun incentives each day for the grade who gets the most pledges from the day before!

Since there are approximately 50 students per grade we need each student to think of their individual goal as being $111!

We have simplified the process this year, just make a donation and credit your team (that’s your grade level), and share the campaign! No registration, no individualized pages, no hassle!

The individualized pages are totally still available if you enjoy that feature- please feel free to personalize!

(YOU DO NOT NEED TO TIP GIVEBUTTER! Select ‘Other’ and enter $0.00)

GIVE If and what you can!
Make sure you specify your grade level!
SHARE the load by sharing our fundraiser with extended and chosen family: www.givebutter.com/tourney26

TOURNEY FAQS

Q: What is Tourney of the Hoops?
A: It’s a day for students to get together and play a uniquely Evergreen game, Capture the Hoops.

Q: What is Capture the Hoops?
A: The game was invented by former Evergreen Teacher, Chris Weaver and has remained a staple of the third grade experience ever since! At one point we had such a devoted cadre of Capturers that families gathered to play the game at area parks on the weekends!

It became a tradition for Third Grade to play the game on Friday afternoons and remains so to this day.

There have been some evolutions in the rules through the years, but you can think of it like Capture the Flag, but with hoops not flags. There are many hoops, not just one per team, and the game is played in the round across four quadrants with a free space in the center affectionately named Coney Island at some point in recent history.

Q: My student is in Kindergarten/First/Second Grade! They won’t know how to play!

A: Capture The Hoops is a bit much for K-2 Kiddos. We teach them Hoop Based Team Building Games to ensure they also have a fun and safe day that’s not overwhelming!

Book Your Babysitter!

Call up your besties and leave the kids with your partner, Grandma, or a babysitter and join the Dayum Daylight Disco!

Dayum is flipping the script on the standard night out. Trade the dark corners and late nights for getting your groove on and getting to bed before 9 PM. Come as you are, dance your heart out, and still be home in time to put the kids to bed.

March 14th - 3:00-8:00pm
@ Revival (66 Asheland)

A portion of the proceeds for this event will be donated to the school. Thanks to the Dayum Team!

Save the Date:
Exhibition Nights

Save the Date for Exhibition Nights coming up at the end of March!

We divide the school into two nights similar to Fall Family Nights.

Grades 1/3/5 &7 will be Wednesday, March 25th.

Kindergarten/2/4/6 & 8 will be Thursday, March 26th.

This Celebration of Learning is part of the curriculum and should be attended by all students and families.

To learn more about this Evergreen tradition rooted in the EL Learning model check out the Exhibition Nights page.

Integrity

According to the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, children and adults lie for similar reasons: to get out of trouble, for personal gain, to impress or protect someone, or to be polite. At a young age, kids will experiment with the truth and continue doing so through all the developmental stages, with varying degrees of sophistication and elaboration.

As the primary role models in children's lives, parents and caregivers play a vital part in showcasing honesty. They also have the most influence on instilling a deep-rooted commitment to telling the truth. As children mature and acquire a more sophisticated understanding of social etiquette, parents must help children differentiate between little white lies told to spare people's feelings and downright dishonesty.

For maximum influence at each developmental stage, address the subject of lying in an age-appropriate way. Check out these listed resources and articles to learn age appropriate techniques to support your child in choosing honesty.

Here is an article that includes activities for both kids and teens:  Positive Psychology: Worksheets about Honesty
