Hi Evergreen,
Spring is in the air and the excitement about spring break is palpable in the halls today. We’re looking forward to seeing you all at student led conferences this evening or tomorrow, and really loved having you all here last week for Exhibition Nights!
Before you leave for spring break, here are a few things on the radar here at school:
As you saw in my email last week, now is a crucial time to advocate for public schools to the NC general assembly - they are about to reconvene for the spring session and it’s vital that they hear from parents and families about how the lack of funding is impacting public schools and our teachers’ well-being!
In staffing news, James Wilson, who has run EverAfter for years, will be stepping out of that role next year and we will be looking for a new afterschool director. We are going to miss his leadership in the role but are happy that we will still have him as part of the community!
You’ll keep getting reminders, but there are 4 more snow makeup Mondays where we have a 1hr delayed dismissal.
After spring break, time will just start flying and there are lots of events happening! Please stay tuned to hear more about Earth Day and our annual plant sale, end of year trips, the Annual Meeting in May, hiring, staffing, and budgeting updates, teacher/staff appreciation week, End of Grade Testing, and all of the celebratory end of year events! Many of these are already posted on the Evergreen calendar (found on the website and able to be added to your google calendar for ease!) so check it out!
Reminder - check out the Infinite Campus parent portal for child’s Trimester 2 progress report if you haven’t already.
That’s all for now - enjoy conferences, spring break, the warm weather and sunshine, and buckle up for the rest of the school year!!
For more info on the NC Budget Impasse and why it matters for our community, please refer to the “Letter from our Board Chair on NC Budget Impasse” that was sent to families on March 23rd.

Student Led Conferences
Thursday, April 2nd: after school/ evening hours
Drop in Care available in the Multipurpose Room (Modular behind Middle School)
Friday, April 3rd: during regular class time - No School: Drop In Care available in Gym during conference times, Register for All Day Care, sign up through EA newsletter
If you are using Drop-In Care during conferences: you will need to bring your child(ren) in with you, speak with EverAfter staff, and sign them in and out. You MAY NOT just send them to wherever you see other kids. It'll take you a few minutes to do that; please plan accordingly so that you are not late to your conference time--your child's teachers' time is both valuable AND limited! If you prefer not to use EverAfter, please keep your children with you, or just outside of whatever classroom you are conferencing in. Unsupervised kids will be sent back to their parents or to the main office. Thanks for keeping kids supervised and safe!
