Jean Reese

she/her/hers

Jean started at Evergreen as a parent volunteer, and currently works behind the scenes to help keep Evergreen running smoothly. She is also the editor and publisher of a B&B directory for Unitarian Universalists, the newsletter designer for the Carolina Mountain Club, and has worked as an editor, researcher, freelance writer and photographer for various organizations. Jean has a Masters in Public Administration from Auburn University, as well as a BA in Journalism and Political Science from Indiana University. Her current fun project is researching and writing an historical novel about an event in her grandmother’s life when she was pursued across the country by a wheelchair-bound suitor, was found by and married him, the stock market crashed and he died. In the process of this research, Jean has found that her grandmother was painted by American Impressionist painter Robert Lewis Reid, and that the painting is at her mother’s house and is unknown to the art world. The three of them had stayed at a sanitarium in New York, and Reid and the suitor died within days of each other.
