Fundraising FAQs
Why your support is important to the Evergreen Fund

Since charter schools in NC do not receive funds for land, facilities, transportation,or other capital needs, your tax deductible gift to our school's Evergreen Fund helps bridge our funding gap, which is approximately $400 per student.

Your gift makes an impact in so many ways:

  • supporting lead and associate teachers

  • assisting with the enhanced nutrition program costs

  • helping with facility maintenance and utilities

What is the Evergreen Fund?

The Evergreen Fund is the annual fund for our school. It helps to maintain our current programming and services.

Who contributes to the Evergreen Fund?

As the direct beneficiaries of the Fund, our largest donor base is our current families, accounting for about 61% of total funds raised in the 22-23 school year. Other contributors include Evergreen board members, faculty, staff, grandparents, alumni parents, and friends of the school.

How important is my participation?

Private foundations and corporations, who we approach for sponsorships, grants, and/or partnerships, want to know that the community we serve believes in the work that we are doing and is backing us . The best way to indicate this is by having a high percentage of donors in our school community. Being able to show potential donors that a large percentage of our families, staff, and board are invested in our mission and donate regularly (regardless of amount!) is a key to unlocking further funding!

Why doesn't the school pursue more grants to raise money toward the Evergreen Fund?

Evergreen does pursue grant funding. However, corporate and private foundations often have very specific criteria for funding. Typically, corporations and foundations are not interested in contributing toward general operating funds. This is why the Evergreen Fund was created. Researching, identifying, and cultivating potential corporate and foundation partners for targeted projects/programs is a part of the overall work of the Development Office. How Do I Know if I work for a Company that offers Matching Funds?

Some companies will match your monthly or one-time gift. Think of it as one of your benefits, being able to support the school with twice the amount you could typically imagine giving! To find out if your company offers this benefit, ask your HR Rep.
We also have a list of companies we know offer Matching Funds, is your employer listed?

When does the Evergreen Fund begin and end each year?

Evergreen’s fiscal year begins on July 1st and closes on June 30th each year. All gifts to the current Evergreen Fund should be made by June 30.
