Holistic Teaching Style

Our school is hidden among the beautiful Asheville mountains in Haw Creek. Our 10-acre campus has wooded trails, outdoor classrooms, a garden, ponds, and several woodland play areas. We practice Leave No Trace principles and spend time in crew beautifying our campus and ensuring that all of our plants, trees, and critters are thriving!

Our teachers are highly educated, skilled, and creative. They provide learning experiences to our students that prepare them for successful lifelong learning, social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and service. We consider academics and social emotional learning equally important. We hold ourselves to high expectations and support each other in reaching them.

Weekly Thursday Treats

Regular Staff Initiatives

Our generous parents provide our staff and teachers with delicious treats on Thursday to help finish out the week strong. This can include breakfast items, coffee, lunch, baked goods, and more. Parents are always conscious about dietary needs as well so that everyone can enjoy the goodies!

Each month there are opportunities for our staff to spend time together whether it is in their Staff Crew, in a workshop to learn more about honing their teaching craft, or going out to a local restaurant to hang out. Our staff takes the time to invest in each other and ensure that everyone is included.

Nurturing the Happiness Factor

At Evergreen, we understand that happiness and choice are important, this is why the Happiness Factor is valued and nurtured here. The Happiness Factor, as coined by Professor Ed Diener, is all about balancing social relationships, temperament/adaptation, money, society and culture, and positive thinking styles. This is why we are flexible and understanding when it comes to our staff and their well-being.
