Tony Mele

Lead Teacher, Seventh and Eighth Grade Social Studies

Tony was born and raised in northern Virginia, and graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.  After graduation he began working with middle school students as a ropes course instructor, environmental educator, and eventually program director, of the George Mason University Center for Outdoor Education.  He earned his M.S. in Environmental Education from the University of Montana, where he also served as program director of the Montana Natural History Center. He returned to Virginia to teach Social Studies to exceptional needs students.  He now raises his two sons, both attending Evergreen, on their farm outside of Asheville, where he also runs a small organic herb greenhouse and Japanese maple nursery.
