Technology Enrichment
Elementary Technology
Laura Branch teaches technology enrichment classes for grades 2-4. That curriculum includes:
- Keyboarding using Mavis Beacon
- PowerPoint integrating expeditions-3rd and 4th grade
- MS Paint - 2nd and 3rd - We learn all the tools, do projects integrating expeditions and do slide show presentations.
- MS Word- We learn font, spacing, paragraphing, allignment, editing for spelling, and formatting using columns.
- MS Excel- We create graphs with data they have collected.
- Internet reseaching skills - We teach them how to search the Internet for information fortheir expeditions using Internet Explorer and the Google Task Bar
Middle School Technology
Most of the work we do is project based. Whenever possible the project supports the classroom expedition.
We focus on a few key skills:
- Keyboarding using Mavis Beacon (typically in 6th grade)
- Word Processing formatting skills
- Presentations using Power Point
- Spread Sheet formulas and graphs using Excel
- Database skills using Access (typically in 7th and 8th grade)
- Internet research and citing sources
- Data management using networked drives
Students will also get opportunities to create a short video presentation using Movie Maker, and create a short music clip using FL-Studios, and create graphics using a photo editing or draw program.
