Expeditionary Learning - Evergreen has embraced the ELS (Expeditionary Learning Schools Outward Bound) educational model that fosters high achievement through active learning and teamwork.
Positive Discipline - At our school, we emphasize a culture of caring - one that reinforces our primary belief that we are all valuable citizens in a world community and therefore need to treat everyone with respect. The foundation for this is the Positive Discipline approach to classroom management.
TAASC - The America Adventure Service Corp - An innovative year-long co-ed program for ages 8 to 18, that utilizes adventure, education and community service to enhance young people’s development of values, physical fitness, character traits and life skills. TAASC is operating in Asheville from Evergreen's campus.
Environmental Learning Center at Warren Wilson Provides students who perform a variety of tasks on Evergreen's campus, including the following: interns and student teachers from the education, biology, and psychology departments; representatives of the college's Eco-Team to teach environmental lessons with Evergreen's third graders; Outdoor Leadership students to lead initiatives and workshops with Evergreen students during the day and after school; students who engage in meaningful service activities on our campus; and students who provide demonstrations such as blacksmithing and others.
NCDPI - The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is the governing body for all public K-12 schools in the state.
University of North Carolina at Asheville - Students perform community service at Evergreen and observe classes.
French Broad Food Co-op Stocks our snack machines with healthy and budget-conscious food and drink.
Riverlink - Through a partnership with RiverLink, over $95,000 in storm water management initiatives were implemented at Evergreen to address runoff from its parking lots, roofs and other impervious surfaces. The project involved the creation of two large rain gardens which include a native wetland and several bioswales, designed to trap, slow, and filter rainwater run-off before it spills into Haw Creek. Evergreen participates in RiverLink's Adopt-a-Stream program.
Quality Forward - Provides experts for student research and investigations, as well as community environmental projects in which Evergreen students participate.
Burroughs Wellcome Fund - Provided a grant for $167,000 to fund GRITS (Girls in Research, Invention, Technology, and Science), an after-school and summer program for middle school girls.
Pigeon River Fund - Provided a grant for $3,032.04 to fund Evergreen's fifth-grade Cold Water Aquaculture Project, which raises and releases Brook Trout in the waters of WNC. They also fund the Adopt -a -Stream program.
Families Together - CEO Dan Zorn is a Legacy donor and former Evergreen Board member. He created a scholarship fund for rising seventh and eight grade students at Evergreen in order recognize and support high standards of leadership in the areas of community service, academics and character.
Carolina First - Underwrote the entertainment for CAFE for the last three years and is Evergreen's bank of choice.
