The music enrichment is required for K - 8th grades. Experiencing music first hand is the main emphasis of music teacher Tonya Paul.
We explore music from many different cultures and from our own rich American tradition. Every class involves singing, listening, moving and playing instruments. In a non-competitive, inclusive atmosphere, K-2 classes focus on small percussion and xylophones, 3rd and 4th grades focus on hand and stick drums and 5th grade classes focus on marimba. Middle schoolers study music history and a variety of genres.
Students in Kindergarten go to music class twice a week and students in First through Fifth grade go to music class once a week. Sixth through Eighth graders have music class once per week for one trimester.
