Eben Heasley has a BA in Cultural Anthropology and studied Elementary Education at UNCA. Prior to coming to Evergreen in 2003, he had been independently tutoring students in a range of subjects within the Asheville area. He spent three years providing backcountry education for the Appalachian Mountain Club and thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 1995. A self styled musician, writer, thespian, board gamer, outdoorsman, carpenter, cook, candle-maker, husband, father, and oh yes, elementary school teacher, he has his fingers in more pies than he can truly appreciate the flavor of.

After returning to the States, Melissa moved to Cincinnati and worked as an AmeriCorps volunteer for a non-profit organization to assist "at risk" youth. Melissa has also worked as a health educator for Planned Parenthood and taught HIV prevention classes for high risk populations at large public schools, juvenile detention centers and substance abuse treatment centers. Melissa found her new home in Asheville in 2008 and worked as a youth leader for the YMCA and at Evergreen in the EverAfter program and as a substitute teacher.
In 2010, Melissa completed her Master of Arts in Teaching at UNC Chapel Hill and immediately moved back to the mountains. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys traveling, hiking, gardening, art projects, West African dance and volunteering in the community.Chris Weaver, Third Grade Lead Teacher
