Linda has been a primary grade teacher for 15 years and came to Evergreen in 2006. From 2001-2003 she lived and taught in Genoa, Italy. From 2003-2006 she lived and taught in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
While working overseas she had the privilege to teach a number of students who were new to English, and she enjoyed learning about different cultures. Her hobbies include playing the guitar, hiking, biking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. Some of her favorite countries she has visited include Jordan, New Zealand, Croatia, South Africa and Slovenia.

Melanie earned her B.S. in elementary education (with a minor in photography) from Appalachian State University in 1993. Since that time, she has worked at an independent school as an assistant teacher and lead teacher in grades one and three, served as a counselor and the educational coordinator at Camp Woodson, and most recently, worked as a pastry chef at West End Bakery.
Melanie is excited about being back in the school setting now that her daughter is nearly ready for kindergarten, and she looks forward to integrating her love of cooking into the classroom.

Jo has a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota and has been teaching since 1993. She had four years of charter school experience before she became a lead teacher at Evergreen in 2003.
She has presented at numerous state and national educational conferences. Jo shares her love of history, music, and technology with her students. Song circle and guided meditation are used to expand communication skills in her classroom. She lives in Black Mountain with her husband and has two grown children and three adorable grandchildren. Her free time is spent knitting, playing the guitar, and hiking the scenic trails of Western North Carolina.

Susan received a MA in Theatre Arts and Communications from Emerson College in Boston. In addition to being a classroom drama teacher, Susan has also coordinated several non-profit arts and outdoor education programs and has led wilderness trips with youth in New England.
She loves helping kids “find their voice” while exploring their creative side. Susan loves working as an Associate Teacher and is also a proud ECCS parent to Lucie. She loves being active outside, working in her yard with her family, and doing craft projects with friends.
